Topix Toons In For Golden Marble Awards

TOPIX, a character animation, special effects, film titling, type and broadcast design firm, has designed and produced the animation and special effects for the 4th Annual Golden Marble Advertising Awards and the 3rd Annual Golden Marble Promotion Awards. "For the 4th Annual Golden Marble Advertising Awards our job was to give the show a distinctive look and to create a 5-second identity for each of the 32 Golden Marble Advertising Awards. We catered to the playfulness of children's advertising, but the work had to play to an audience which is a really sophisticated, savvy bunch of ad execs. It was a challenge to balance the whimsical with the sophisticated," said TOPIX president/executive producer Chris Wallace. TOPIX designer and animator Kara Blake animated all the award graphics using Photoshop and After Effects to create a retro-look like the print campaign. "We integrated black and white stock stills from the 40s and 50s that portray an idealized world of happy consumers with humorous, original graphic elements including a mélange of shapes and retro fonts," said Blake. "TOPIX did a wonderful job for us the last three years and once again found a way to stay true to the essence of our show, to find that balance between the playfulness and the sophistication we were looking for. They created wonderfully witty ids that do not overpower or distract," added Shelley Middlebrook executive vice president/group publisher at Brunico Communications, Inc. The 3rd Annual Golden Marble Promotion Awards will again utilize the twenty-five 5-second graphic identities created by TOPIX last year. The awards celebrate excellence in children's advertising and promotions and will be presented at luncheons on September 10 and 11 in New York during the Advertising & Promotion to Kids conference.
