Peter Morgan (FROST/NIXON) has adapted the script from John Le Carre's 1974 bestseller. The plot follows the search for a spy in the high ranks of the British Secret Intelligence Service. The novel has already been turned into a British TV series, which starred Alec Guinness.
Production on the film will take place in London in October.
Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner are the producers alongside exec producers Debra Hayward of Working Title, Liza Chasin, Le Carre and Morgan.
