Thunderbirds Are Go For Summer 2002 Debut

'60s cult series THUNDERBIRDS has found a new home. Cable network TechTV has acquired the rights to all 32 THUNDERBIRDS episodes, which have been digitally re-mastered with Dolby Surround Sound. The network will air the series beginning in summer 2002. The classic puppet-animated series created by Gerry Anderson debuted in the U.K. in 1965 and has consistently aired around the globe since its debut. Set in the year 2065, THUNDERBIRDS recounts the adventures of the Tracy Brothers, members of the top secret International Rescue organization, on their quest to save Earth. Greg Drebin, senior vice president of programming and production for TechTV, said, "THUNDERBIRDS is the type of programming that viewers expect from TechTV entertaining, fun and with a connection to technology. The futuristic setting, sci-fi theme and nostalgic value all make THUNDERBIRDS a perfect compliment to our programming mix. We are developing a presentation format to include additional information on screen to make each episode even more compelling."
