Television's Holiday Offerings In December

'Tis the season for festive holiday specials and the networks are rising to the occasion. Here is a selection of this holiday's television offerings:

The Disney Channel's new animated comedy series THE PROUD FAMILY will air "Seven Days of Kwanzaa," a special holiday episode featuring the guest voices of Samuel L. Jackson, Vivica A. Fox (THE HUGHLEYS, INDEPENDENCE DAY) and Raven Symone (THE COSBY SHOW). THE PROUD FAMILY Kwanzaa episode will air on the Disney Channel on Friday, December 7, at 7 pm ET/PT.

The ABC Family network is presenting "25 Days of Christmas," with over 225 hours of programming, much of it animated. The half-hour animated special DONNER, which premiered on December 1, will air throughout the month of December, as will holiday-themed episodes of ANGELA ANACONDA, BRACEFACE and TOTALLY SPIES. The month of programming is highlighted by the 25th anniversary of the Rankin and Bass Christmas specials FROSTY'S WINTER WONDERLAND (airing Saturday, December 22, 2001, 8 pm ET/PT) and RUDOLPH'S SHINY NEW YEAR (airing Monday, December 24, 2001, 7 pm ET/PT). Nickelodeon will present new holiday episodes of its popular preschool shows BOB THE BUILDER and LITTLE BILL, as well as holiday-themed episode premieres of RUGRATS, THE FAIRLY ODDPARENTS and AS TOLD BY GINGER. Nick also features a mini-holiday marathon of its most popular shows including CAT/DOG, SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS and RUGRATS on Saturday, December 15, 2001 from 2:00 pm to 5:30 pm ET/PT.
