TELETOON Picks Up Bron’s 'Mighty Mighty Monsters'

Bron Animation’s Mighty Mouse Monsters heads to TELETOON and is set to premiere on October 28.

Toronto, Canada -- Leading producer and distributor Shaftesbury announced that Mighty Mighty Monsters, a trio of animated specials for kids, has been acquired by TELETOON Canada. Produced by Vancouver-based Bron Animation and distributed by Shaftesbury, the three 44-minute specials - Halloween Havoc, New Fears Eve and Pranks for the Memories - follow a group of monster kids who must try to fit in at a “normal” school after being expelled from Monster Academy. TELETOON will feature the world broadcast premiere of Mighty Mighty Monsters: Halloween Havoc on Monday, October 28 at 6 pm ET/PT.

Mighty Mighty Monsters is a beautifully animated franchise with top notch production values, making it a great fit for TELETOON,” said Ryan St. Peters, Vice President, Sales and Business Development. “We are thrilled that Canadian families will be able to enjoy Halloween Havoc in time for the spooky season.”

“I am so glad to see Mighty find its Canadian home on TELETOON,” said Aaron L. Gilbert, Producer. We’re excited to bring these unique, quirky, and loveable monsters to the world.”

Mighty Mighty Monsters follows the adventures of three classic movie monster kids – vampire Vlad, Frankenstein-esque Frankie and werewolf Gunnar – who are expelled from Monster Academy for the prank of the year gone wrong in the first special, Halloween Havoc. Forced to attend a Human Immersion program at a “normal” middle school, the trio makes a deal with their new teacher – if they can successfully convince their fellow students that they're human, they'll be able to return to their monster school. As luck would have it, it's Halloween, so they can pretend to be dressed up and hopefully even win the costume competition. But what happens when the day is over and the hall monitors find out their true identities? The monster kids’ problems are further complicated when one of them does the unthinkable – he decides he wants to be human. Produced in HD, Mighty Mighty Monsters provides a visually rich look and immersive, cinematic experience.

Based on a book series created and written by Sean Patrick O’Reilly, Mighty Mighty Monsters is produced by Barbara Zelinkski and Bron managing director Aaron L. Gilbert.  Debbie Macdonald, formally of Nickelodeon UK, serves as creative consultant to Bron on the property. Halloween Havoc was written by Ben Burden Smith, Gil Rimmer, and Scott Oleszkowicz (Wingin’ It, Overruled!), and directed by Adam Wood, who recently served as Animation Director on The Weinstein Company’s Escape from Planet Earth. The show features original music composed by Ohad Benchetrit and Kevin Drew of Canadian rock group Broken Social Scene.
