'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' Join Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

For the first time ever, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will emerge from the sewers of Manhattan with their very own float and join some of Nickelodeon’s most popular stars in the 86th Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

New York, NY -- For the first time ever, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will emerge from the sewers of Manhattan with their very own float and join some of Nickelodeon’s most popular stars in the 86th Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thursday, Nov. 22.  The Dora the Explorer float, inspired by the “Dora’s Christmas Carol Adventure” television special, will have a return appearance at the Parade and will feature a performance by Nick star and Columbia recording artist Rachel Crow.  iCarly’s Jennette McCurdy will perform on Pepperidge Farm’s Goldfish on Parade float and SpongeBob SquarePants will make his ninth appearance as the only “square” balloon.

“Nickelodeon’s collaboration with Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade has become a tradition and we’re thrilled to be introducing the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle float in the Parade this year,” said Pam Kaufman, Chief Marketing Officer, Nickelodeon/MTVN Kids and Family Group.  “Sitting down year after year to watch the Parade as a family is a Thanksgiving Day ritual for millions across the country as preschoolers, tweens, teens and parents enjoy seeing Nickelodeon’s stars and characters marching in this great event.”

Nickelodeon’s participation in the 86th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade includes:

From Nickelodeon’s hit show, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael and Michelangelo are back! The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles emerge for the first time aboard an out-of-this world float. Designed by the artists of Macy’s Parade Studio, the float unfolds with breathtaking ninja precision and features a spectacular dark cityscape including roof tops, fire escapes, window ledges and a zip line down telephone wires. Taking a ride with the Turtles on their Thanksgiving journey will be rockers Neon Trees singing their top 5 smash “Everybody Talks.”

It’s Nochebuena and Dora’s having a party! Exploring the past, present and future of Christmas is Nickelodeon’s Latina heroine Dora the Explorer. For the holidays, Dora and her friends are off on an adventure to help Swiper learn the true meaning of Christmas. Featured on the colorful float is a stunning 12-foot tall Christmas tree decorated with dazzling ornaments and very special gifts. On board with Dora for this holiday trek is Nickelodeon star and Columbia recording artist Rachel Crow, singing “Santa Claus Is Comin’ To Town.”

Pop-culture icon and eternal optimist SpongeBob SquarePants will make his ninth appearance when he takes a special holiday trip to soak up the sights and sounds of New York City. Based on Nickelodeon’s hit animated series, the SpongeBob balloon will absorb more than 16,200 cubic feet of helium to fly down the route.  Although it may appear square, the SpongeBob balloon isn’t square at all; it is actually a single chamber sphere, made intricately square-shaped by more than 600 internal tie-lines. Looking dapper as always, SpongeBob stands at 62-feet high, 38-feet wide and 28-feet long.

Finn and his Pepperidge Farm Goldfish friends Gilbert, Brooke and Xtreme have decided to have a parade. Inspired by Macy’s great American tradition, they’ve gathered up some books and toys to create a whimsical Thanksgiving Day procession. Finn leads the way in a dapper top hat and shades as the parade’s grand marshal. Xtreme uses pencils to “stilt walk” down the route while Brooke drives the wind up car which tows Gilbert on his float made of buttons, caps and a whistle.  The march comes to life as it seemingly jumps out of a New York City pop-up book. The Goldfish characters’ vision wouldn’t be complete without a balloon, and so Finn & Friends have transformed a classic toy balloon into a flying wonder. On board for the Turkey Day fun is Nickelodeon star Jennette McCurdy singing “That’s What Christmas Means To Me.”
