Technicolor Acquires Rights for ‘Cosmo, Bud & Boo’

Technicolor announces the acquisition of the rights to Fun Crew’s Cosmo, Bud & Boo, which will debut at Kidscreen Summit 2014.

Technicolor has optioned the rights from Fun Crew Ltd. to develop and produce 52 x 11 minute episodes of the 2D digital animated children’s series, Cosmo, Bud & Boo, which the company will debut at Kidscreen Summit 2014 taking place February 9-12 in New York.

Cosmo, Bud & Boo is being co-developed with industry veteran and creative consultant, Debbie MacDonald, who previously served as an executive at Nickelodeon U.K., where she was responsible for award winning and nominated commissions and acquisitions, including Peppa Pig, Ben & Holly's Little Kingdom, Humf, Poppy Cat, Fifi & the Flowertots, Olive the Ostrich, Tickety Tock and Roary the Racing Car.

In the adorable, original comedy series for children 4 to 7 years-old, Cosmo, Bud & Boo is about the fun surprises friendship brings!  It's a three bear show, but…one of the bears is a boy in a bear suit!  There are lots of surprises and funny disguises with these loveable buddies always on the lookout for fun!

“We immediately responded to the fantastic idea and visuals of Cosmo, Bud & Boo that Fun Crew presented, and we knew that together we could create a visually captivating series with engaging characters and fun storylines that would resonate with children everywhere,” said Steven Wendland, Vice President and Head of Creative for Technicolor’s Animation & Games business. “We are excited to work with Fun Crew and Debbie MacDonald to bring the series to life and look forward to presenting the concept to potential partners at the upcoming Kidscreen Summit.”

“Technicolor understood our creative vision for Cosmo, Bud & Boo, and the unique aspects of the story and characters that differentiate it from many other children’s television properties,” commented Angela Salt, Content Creator & Creative Producer, Fun Crew.  “We have an A-team in place to develop a top-notch property, and we are excited by the prospect of creating a new hit series!”

Technicolor Animation & Games, part of Technicolor’s Digital Production activities, produces high-quality CG animation for feature films, television, direct-to-video, commercials, video games and location-based entertainment through its industry-leading production facility in Bangalore, India.  In 2010, Technicolor Animation & Games launched its original content business and is currently in development or production on several properties, including the comedy adventure, Atomic Puppet, co-produced with Mercury Filmworks and Gaumont Animation and with broadcast partners Disney XD and TELETOON Canada; the preschool series, Chamelia, co-developed with Mercury Filmworks; and The Deep, co-developed with ABC Television Australia and A Stark Production.
