Teacher's Pet Part Of Disney's Saturday

Walt Disney has announced that the new animated series TEACHER'S PET will join ABC's "Disney's One Saturday Morning" line-up this fall. Tony award-winner Nathan Lane will voice the knowledge-fiend dog, Spot, who disguises himself as a boy to go to school. TEACHER'S PET is being produced at Walt Disney Television Animation by the team of cartoonist Gary Baseman and Emmy Award-winning primetime sitcom writers Bill & Cheri Steinkellner (CHEERS, THE JEFFERSONS). Michael Price (THE PJS) will serve as co-executive producer and Timothy Bjorklund (ROCKO'S MODERN LIFE, TWISTED TALES OF FELIX THE CAT) will direct. The children's educational and informational series' initial order of 13 episodes includes both full-length, 22-minute episodes and pairs of 11-minute cartoons. "This series brings together an amazing mix of talent, from the best of primetime television in the Steinkellners' notable writing to Gary Baseman's distinctive artistic style and Nathan Lane's uproarious performance," said Barry Blumberg, executive vice president, Walt Disney Television Animation. "The result is a hilarious series that subtly conveys important messages about attending school and the yearn to learn." The voice cast also includes Shaun Flemming (MICKEY'S ONCE UPON A CHRISTMAS) as Spot's best human friend, Leonard; Debra Jo Rupp (THAT '70S SHOW) as Leonard's mother and Spot's fourth-grade teacher, Mrs. Helperman; Jerry Stiller (SEINFELD) as the voice of the obnoxious family bird, Pretty Boy; David Ogden Stiers (M*A*S*H) as the Helperman's fat cat, Mr.Jolly; Rob Paulsen (PINKY AND THE BRAIN) as know-it-all classmate Ian Wazselewski; and Wallace Shawn (TOY STORY 2) as the cat-loving, dictator Principal Strickler.
