Taipei International Design Award Issues 2016 Call for Entries

Deadline to register for international design competition is Friday, August 12; finished designs must be submitted by October 7.

Aiming to show the world its commitment to encourage good design in Taipei, the Taipei City Government has organized the Taipei International Design Award, and is inviting designers from around the globe to create designs to help improve the city’s economic, social, environmental and cultural development by providing its users with a safer, harmonious and more convenient lifestyle.

The Taipei City Government hopes to not only publicly select outstanding international design works but also serve a creative design exchange platform to help discover creative work with commercial potential. Creative designers, teachers, students, and people with a passion for design are invited to submit their work.

Backed by the Chinese Industrial Designers Association, Taiwan Poster Design Association, Graphic Design Association of the Republic of China, Chinese Society of Interior Designers, and Kaohsiung Creators Association, the competition has three categories: Industrial Design, Visual Communication Design, and Public Space Design.

Several cash prizes amounting up to NTD 500,000 (roughly $15,300 US) will be handed out in each category at an award ceremony to be held on November 4, with the overall winner receiving the Taipei City Mayor Award.

Submissions must have been completed after June 30, 2014. The deadline to register is Friday, August 12; finished work must be submitted by October 7. Eligibility rules, online registration and submission requirements can all be found at www.taipeidaward.taipei.
