Syfy has cast Eddie Izzard, Donald Sutherland and Elijah Wood in its miniseries TREASURE ISLAND, reports Variety.
Syfy has cast Eddie Izzard, Donald Sutherland and Elijah Wood in its miniseries TREASURE ISLAND, reports Variety. Izzard is set to play notorious pirate Long John Silver. Sutherland will play the legendary pirate Capt. Flint. Elijah Wood takes the role of Ben Gunn, a former Flint crewman who has been stranded on Treasure Island for years and befriends the young cabin boy Jim Hawkins (Toby Regbo).
Steve Barron (TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES) is the director. Stewart Harcourt (TV's JERICHO) penned the script. Robert Halmi Sr., Alan Moloney, Mark Grenside, Melanie Stokes, Anne Brogan and Ann Harrison-Baxter are the exec producers.
The trio of actors joins Shirley Henderson, Philip Glenister, Rupert Penry-Jones, Daniel Mays, David Harewood and Keith Allen.
Taking place in Puerto Rico and Ireland, production has started. Syfy is set to air the two-part film in Q1 2012.
