SUPER RTL Acquires Comedy Series Leon

German children's broadcaster SUPER RTL has acquired the free TV rights for the CGI animated comedy series LEON (52x3). The broadcaster is set to air LEON exclusively in Germany in late 2009.

The series is a co-production between TV-Loonland, Studio Hari -- the producers of international hit series THE OWL -- and French broadcaster France 3. Appealing to viewers of all ages, LEON is an funny portrayal of one of life's unluckiest lions. A not so King of the Jungle character wandering the stunning savannah, combined with animated slapstick genius and brilliant comic timing marks LEON as a stand out.

Leon has a true hunter instinct and plots tirelessly to track everything that moves. Each episode brings a new encounter -- be it with a dippy springbok, hysterical hyenas or even a love struck hippo. But in Leon's world, the prey becomes predator and the chase always spirals out of control. After a series of madcap mishaps, the poor lion often goes hungry.

SUPER RTL is joining U.K.'s CBBC and France 3 as third prominent European broadcaster to pick up the show scheduled for full delivery before Christmas 2009.
