Studiocanal Plans ‘Paddington’ Toon Series

Preschool series based on popular book series will debut with 52 11-minute episodes in late 2018 or early 2019.

Studiocanal will add an animated series to its ‘Paddington’ franchise.

Studiocanal is looking to parlay the success of its Paddington movie franchise to television, announcing development of an animated series starring the beloved bear, Variety reports.

Announced in advance of MIP Junior, 52 11-minute episodes of the series will be produced with an eye toward launching in late 2018 or early 2019. The series will be aimed primarily at preschool audiences.

Studiocanal produced the 2014 hybrid feature film and its sequel, Paddington 2, due out Nov. 10 in the United Kingdom, Dec. 6 in France and Jan. 12 in the United States. Studiocanal executives have committed to a third Paddington.

The series and the features are all based on the children’s book series by Michael Bond.
