Studio B Producer Pimm Dies

Earlier this week, Studio B lost producer Richard Pimm, who passed away on September 24, 2008. Pimm, 60, was a known animation producer throughout Canada and the world.

For more than 30 years, Pimm worked for many of the world's leading animation companies, including Nelvana, Disney and Lucasfilm. He also spent 12 years working as an overseas supervisor in Korea, Taiwan, China, Wales, Thailand and the Philippines, where he was the General Manager for Toon City.

One of his jobs was working as a camera operator on ROCK-N-RULE, the first animated feature film entirely produced in Canada. After this, he went on to work on a number of animated series including BABAR, BEETLEJUICE and THE CARE BEARS. While at Studio B, Pimm was instrumental on THE D'MYNA LEAGUES, YVON OF THE YUKON and CLASS OF THE TITANS, as a producer and production manager. At the time of his death, Pimm was producing A SIDE SHOW CHRISTMAS.

At Studio B, Pimm was known for his spirit, expertise and love of motorbikes. Outside of the studio he was an enthusiastic member of the Mad Dog Motorcycle Club, based in Manila, Philippines. Studio B spokesman Anthony Jiwa said, "Richard was a great guy who always had a pleasant outlook on life. He will be sadly missed by his many friends at the studio and around the world."

A viewing will be held in Port Coquitlam, BC at Burkeview Family Funeral Care, 1340 Dominion Avenue on Tuesday, September 30 from 4-6 p.m.
