Studio 100 to Produce ‘Arnie & Barney’ Animated Feature

In the upcoming ‘Maya the Bee’ franchise spin-off, a severe drought causes an ant platoon to set out to save their community… but the inept Arnie and Barney decide to tackle the problem themselves.

Studio 100 International has announced the production of the animated comedy feature, Arnie & Barney. The project marks the first major spin-off from the Maya the Bee franchise.

In the film, a severe drought causes an ant platoon to set out to save their community, but the inept Arnie and Barney decide to tackle the problem themselves. In a series of comical mishaps, they inadvertently save the meadow and become the most unlikely heroes of all!

“This production is very close to our hearts,” says Thorsten Wegener, producer and director of Business Operations at Studio 100 International. “It’s a story about how the most unexpected characters can rise to the challenge and become heroes. We believe it will resonate with anyone who loves adventure, and humor. It’s thrilling to see Arnie and Barney, who were originally fan-favorite side characters, step into the spotlight.”

Produced in partnership between Studio 100 International, Studio Isar Animation, and 3 Doubles Producciones as service partner, Arnie & Barney brings the “hilarious antics” of the iconic ants Arnie and Barney to the forefront, voiced by the renowned Australian and international comedy phenomenons Shane Dundas and David Collins, aka The Umbilical Brothers. The script is penned by Fin Edquist (200% Wolf, 100% Wolf, Maya the Bee trilogy), with comedic contributions from Dundas and Collins

Delivery for Arnie & Barney is planned for Q1-2026 with Studio 100 Film handling global sales.
