Independent Chinese production from filmmaker Liu Jian opens Jan. 26 in New York with national release to follow.

Liu Jian’s ‘Have a Nice Day’ will be released Jan. 26 in New York by Strand Releasing.

Strand Releasing has released a theatrical trailer and poster for its upcoming release of the independent Chinese animated feature Have a Nice Day, directed by Liu Jian.

The film, which screened in the 67th Berlin International Film Festival, is a whirlwind neo-noir tale the studio.

In a desperate attempt to find money to save his fiancée's failed plastic surgery, Xiao Zhang, a humble driver, steals a bag containing 1 million Yuan from his boss. News of the robbery spreads fast within the town and, over the course of one night, everyone starts looking for Xiao Zhang and his money...

With music by The Shanghai Restoration Project, the film is in Mandarin with English subtitles.

The film is set to open Jan. 26 in New York, with a national release to follow.
