‘Star Wars: Lando’ Series Axed at Disney+

Director Justin Simien recently shared the news, explaining, ‘It was pretty developed. There was a Bible. There was concept art. There were scripts. But it just wasn’t meant to be.’

Director Justin Simien (Dear White People) has confirmed that Lando, a series centered on a young Lando Calrissian from the Star Wars franchise, will no longer move forward.

“It was pretty developed,” Simien said to Collider. “There was a Bible. There was concept art. There were scripts. But it just wasn’t meant to be.”

“There’s so much that I experience that I get to keep forever and take into the next project,” he added. “I can’t obviously take the storyline or the IP or the characters, but there’s so much more that I got, as a maker, and that’s mine. Sorry, it’s too late, you can’t take that part back.”

First announced in 2020, Lando was set to star Donald Glover as the eponymous character, who first appeared in Solo: A Star Wars Story. Disney has not commented on the cancellation.
