‘Star Wars’ Film Trilogy in Development at Lucasfilm

Simon Kinberg will write and produce alongside Kathleen Kennedy; set after the events of ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker,’ the trilogy moves past the ‘Skywalker Saga’ and will follow a new set of characters.

Get ready for another story set in a galaxy far, far away. A new Star Wars trilogy is in early development at Lucasfilm, according to Variety, though exact plot details have not been revealed.

Simon Kinberg (X-Men franchise, Star Wars: Rebels) will write and produce alongside Kathleen Kennedy. The trilogy moves past the iconic characters established in the “Skywalker Saga,” and will reportedly follow a new set of mystery adventurers.

Other Star Wars universe projects also in development include those from filmmakers James Mangold, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, Taika Waititi, and Donald Glover. Which of these will actually make it to the big (or small) screen, however, is anyone’s guess.
