Squirrel Boy Series Premieres on Cartoon Network

An original news series, SQUIRREL BOY, created and exec produced by Everett Peck (DUCKMAN) and produced at Cartoon Network Studios, premieres July 14, 2006, at 7:00 pm.

It stars 10-year-old Andy Johnson and his best friend and pet, Rodney, a talking squirrel with lots of big ideas. These two lead each other into all sorts of adventures in Andys backyard and throughout the neighborhood. Andys often-exasperated dad (Mr. J) wants to kick the oblivious Rodney out on his furry tail.

They are sometimes joined by Rodneys best squirrel buddy, Leon, who prefers the call of the wild to the domesticated life of a kept squirrel.

Veteran voice actors cast in this show include Richard Horvitz (BEN 10, THE GRIM ADVENTURES OF BILLY & MANDY, POWER RANGERS) as Rodney J. Squirrel, Pamela S. Adlon as Andy Johnson, Kurtwood Smith (Red in THAT 70S SHOW) as Andys father and Tom Kenny (SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS) as Leon. Casting and voice direction is by Donna Grillo Gonzales.

The writing staff includes Christopher Painter (also story editor), Joseph Prudy, Howard Marguiles and Mark Banker. Storyboard is by Raymie Muzquiz with Ted Stearn and Stephen Bergquist as storyboard artists.

Peck strove and has created a cartoon with a Hanna-Barbera Saturday morning sensibility emphasizing character relationships and gags that don't rely on pop culture references.

SQUIRREL BOY is directed by Raymie Muzquiz with Pernelle Hayes as producer.

Character design supervisor Jerry Richardson makes sure character designers Anastasios Gionis and Max Miceli adhere to Peck's distinctive design, of elongated, graphic characters that harken back to his DUCKMAN days. Instead of using a heavy graphic line, the characters have outlines in a darker hue color with a defining, bold shadow.

Background design supervisor is Steve Meyers with background design by Marina Levikova and background paint Shannon Bergman with Craig Simmons as background paint supervisor. Kate Vander Wende is color stylist.

Music is by Brad Benedict with Mark Fontana and Erik Godal. Post-production supervisor is Tony Tedford, Peter Tomaszewicz is picture editor and Matthew Brown is dialogue editor. Supervising sound editor is Michael Geisler.

The show is mixed at pacific Soundwaves while the overseas production house is Rough Draft Korea. Exec producer for Cartoon Network Studios is Brian Miller while Jennifer Pelphrey is supervising producer.
