Squeeze Animation Unveils ‘Monkey Beat’ Short

Québec City-based animation studio behind TV series ‘Cracké’ tests out new characters and a sick beat in new 3D-animated short employing 2D effects.

Here in the just ‘cause category is Squeeze Animation’s Monkey Beat, a new short film produced by the team to help develop fresh characters and explore new styles without really imposing any creative limits. Squeeze also wanted to dig into a snappy, bold and fast-pace style.

“When we created Monkey Beat, it was important for us to work with the musicality and let the beat lead the animation,” comments Squeeze creative director and co-founder Patrick Beaulieu. “We wanted to push the quality -- develop the shapes, the styles and the characters. We thought that incorporating 2D effects would add some warmth to the film. It was just awesome for us to have complete creative freedom!”

Founded in 2011 by animation and video game industry vets Beaulieu and Denis Doré, Squeeze is an award-winning animation studio based in Québec City, Canada. Through a team of talented and passionate creators, the studio gives life to epic characters using the magic of 3D animation, collaborating with local and international partners while also developing its own original productions.

The studio recently completed production on the first season of CG-animated shortform series Cracké, which is slated to air on Disney Channel in almost 100 countries and territories of Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa.
