Janet Eng joins Sony Pictures Television International (SPTI) as sales director, Asia. Based at SPTI's offices in Singapore, Eng will provide a number of markets, including Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines, with a closer, more systematic presence. She will also pursue the sourcing of local content, and will maximize the licensing of formats and support the development of production arrangements in those markets.
"Janet is a seasoned executive with an impressive breadth of experience in our key markets," said Ross Pollack, svp, distribution, Asia, to whom Eng reports. "She has a proven track record and has a thorough knowledge of the needs of broadcasters in Southeast Asia. She is a valuable addition to the team and her presence will only strengthen SPTI's ability to service our clients in the critical Southeast Asia markets."
Eng joins SPTI from Singapore Press Holdings where she was advertisement sales director overseeing government, corporate and display advertising since January 2003. She headed the sales team covering sales and marketing for the government sector for all newspapers within Singapore Press Holdings (15 newspaper titles of different languages).
Eng joined Singapore Press Holdings from Soundbuzz PTE Ltd. where she was gm from 2001 to 2002, responsible for the general operations of the Soundbuzz offices (Southeast Asia and Greater China) and was project leader for the Nokia account. From 1997 to 1999, Eng worked at MTV Asia Ldc. in Singapore as director, marketing. From 1999 to 2000, she was director, marketing & communications, Southeast Asia, MTV Philippines. Eng joined MTV Asia from Singapore Television Twelve PTE Ltd., where she was assistant vp , marketing communications (1995-1996) and senior assistant vp, marketing communications (1996-1997).
She also worked at various advertising agencies in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, including Bates Singapore PTE Ltd. where she was account director from 1994 to 1995; J. Walter Thompson in Singapore where she held several positions, including account director, from 1988 to 1994; and KHK Needham in Kuala Lumpur where she was account exec from 1985 to 1997.
