Emmy-nominated creative director and live-action filmmaker joins Manhattan-based design and animation studio.
NEW YORK -- Manhattan-based design and animation studio Spontaneous announced the hire of branding expert Darryl Mascarenhas in the role of Executive Creative Director. An Emmy-nominated Creative Director and live action filmmaker, Mascarenhas joins Managing Director Cara Cutrone to continue the integration of live action and strategic branding solutions with the current outstanding offerings Spontaneous is known for.
Mascarenhas understands how to communicate and deliver a brand’s message. Mascarenhas developed this skillset over the past decade, having held senior leadership roles at Loyalkaspar, MPC, Eyeball and Quietman. As a Director / Executive Creative Director at Quietman, Mascarenhas helped to transform the company from a visual effects boutique to a full-service creative studio with a focus on direct-to-client production and agency collaborations.
Mascarenhas has worked with Fortune 500 companies such as AT&T, Disney, General Motors, Hewlett Packard and Microsoft. He recently created the Opening Titles for the 2016 AICP Show at MOMA, following the Sponsor Title sequence he created for the event in 2015. Additionally, Mascarenhas has creatively led and directed content for many broadcast networks, including the complete rebrand of Lifetime.
At Spontaneous, Mascarenhas will utilize the powerful infrastructure in place as part of the Lively Group network of companies. This affiliation with the vast resources under the Lively Group umbrella means Spontaneous can nimbly respond to the needs of each project by offering the breadth of live action, design/animation, VFX, and editorial services all under the same roof.
This end-to-end offering is key for what Mascarenhas and Spontaneous can provide clients in the branding space, allowing them to ensure the final product is executed with a cohesive look and feel throughout, regardless of the size of the project.
“More and more, clients require beginning-to-end solutions. Spontaneous has always been able to answer that call, to execute at the highest creative level,” commented Mascarenhas. “Being agile has been a massive advantage in evolving Spontaneous’ new business model.”
Cara Cutrone remarked, “We are thrilled that Darryl has joined Spontaneous. He is masterful in his strategic thinking as well as content creation. His deep branding background and strong design skills set a high bar for the team.”
Mascarenhas is equally enthusiastic about joining Spontaneous, adding, “As the media landscape continues to evolve, I couldn’t be more excited to join Spontaneous, where I am able to offer brands and clients all the right solutions to navigate the increasingly complex waters of our industry.”
