David Koepp (SPIDER-MAN) has been tapped by Paramount Pictures and Skydance Prods. to rewrite their Jack Ryan reboot, reports Deadline.com. Adam Cozad wrote the original draft. Jack Bender (LOST) is set to direct and Chris Pine to star. Originally, Steve Zaillian, who penned the franchise's CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER, was hired to pen the rewrite, but backed out of the project.

Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mace Neufeld are the producers alongside exec producer Mark Vahradian. Skydance's David Ellison, who is funding the film, will serve in some producing capacity as well.

The origin story was reworked from Cozad's spec script DUBAI. The story deals with a 23-year-old Ryan as the only survivor of a deadly helicopter crash. Anthony Peckham also did a rewrite on the script.

The studio hopes to start production in January.
