Sony Sets ‘Jumanji’ Reboot for December 25, 2016

Paul Feig's ‘Ghostbusters’ remake is moved up one week to July 15, 2016; Stephen King adaptation ‘The Dark Tower’ is set for January 13, 2017.

Sony Pictures has officially set release dates for 16 upcoming features, according to a report by Variety.

The studio’s feature slate includes Paul Feig's Ghostbusters remake, which has been moved up a week to July 15, 2016, and a Jumanji reboot, which will hit theaters on December 25, 2016. 

Next year's slate includes Jodie Foster's Money Monster starring Julia Roberts and George Clooney (April 8); The Shallows (June 24); Paul Feig's Ghostbusters remake; zombie film Patient Zero (September 2); Antoine Fuqua's The Magnificent Seven, which is moving to September 23; sequel Underworld 5 (October 21); sci-fi romance Passengers, starring Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt (December 21); and Jumanji.

2017 will see the release of the first installment in the adaptation of Stephen King’s “The Dark Tower” on January 13, followed by Resident Evil 6 (January 27); Bad Boys 3 (February 17; Bad Boys 4 is dated for July 3, 2019); Baby Driver (March 17); Barbie (June 2); Uncharted, which is moving to June 30; and The Lamb (Dec. 8)

These films join the previously announced projects already on the studio’s slate including the next Spider-Man film (July 28, 2017); The Equalizer 2 (September 29, 2017); Dan Brown’s Inferno (October 14, 2016); Ang Lee’s Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk (November 11, 2016); and the animated Spider-Man film from Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (July 20, 2018).
