Sony Corp. has formed Sony ColorWorks to handle digital intermediate work, reports VARIETY. ColorWorks makes its home at Stage 6 on the Sony lot where THE WIZARD OF OZ was filmed. ColorWorks will offer film restoration and 4K DI services.
While setting up its facilities, the new unit worked on THIS IS IT, ZOMBIELAND and CLOUDY WITH THE CHANCE OF MEATBALLS.
Colorists working for the new company include Trent Johnson (MYSTIC RIVER), Steve Bowen (APOCALYPTO, THE DA VINCI CODE) and John Persichetti (SIN CITY, SUPERBAD).
Their chief competitors in the competitive field are Technicolor, Deluxe's eFilm, Prime Focus, Warner Motion Picture Imaging and Ascent Media's Company3.
