Sony Drops ‘Gran Turismo’ Sneak Peek

Fans at CES 2023 buckled up for an exclusive look at the highly anticipated film based on the true story of a teenage player of the titular game who went on to become a pro racecar driver; starring David Harbour, Archie Madekwe, Darren Barnet, and Orlando Bloom, the film hits theaters this summer.

Yesterday, at CES 2023, Sony treated fans to a sneak peek of Columbia Pictures’ upcoming film Gran Turismo, based on the true story of a teenage Gran Turismo player whose gaming skills helped him win a series of Nissan competitions before ultimately becoming a professional racecar driver. Turismo first hit PlayStation in 1997, with a successful series of sequels released over the years before eventually becoming one of the best-selling Sony game franchises of all time. The movie hits theaters August 11, 2023.

David Harbour (Stranger Things, Black Widow) plays a retired racer turned teacher, while Archie Madekwe (See) plays a teen who uses his gaming skills to win real races, alongside Darren Barnet (Never Have I Ever) as a fellow racer, and Orlando Bloom as a hungry marketing exec. The cast also features Geri Halliwell Horner and Djimon Hounsou.

Directed by Neill Blomkamp (District 9, Elysium) with a screenplay by Jason Hall and Zach Baylin, the film is produced by Doug Belgrad, Asad Qizilbash, Carter Swan, and Dana Brunetti. Kazunori Yamauchi, Herman Hulst, Hall and Matthew Hirsch serve as executive producers.
