‘Sonic The Hedgehog’ Spin-Off ‘Knuckles’ Expands Cast

The mini-series centered on Idris Elba’s dastardly red Echidna adds Adam Pally and Kid Cudi to a roster already packed with actors reprising their franchise roles; show premieres October 12, 2023 exclusively on Paramount+.

The Sonic the Hedgehog spinoff mini-series Knuckles is expanding! Joining Idris Elba’s eponymous dastardly red Echidna are Scott ‘Kid Cudi’ Mescudi (X, Don’t Look Up); Edi Patterson (The Righteous Gemstones); Julian Barratt (Mindhorn); Ellie Taylor (Ted Lasso); and Rory McCann (Game of Thrones). Reprising their roles from the franchise are Adam Pally (Happy Endings, The Mindy Project) as Walt Whipple and Tika Sumpter (Final Space) as Maddie.

Jeff Fowler, franchise director, returns to helm the pilot. Ged Wright, Brandon Trost, Jorma Taccone, and Carol Banker will also direct. John Whittington (Sonic the Hedgehog 2, The Lego Batman Movie) serves as executive producer and head writer alongside series scribes Brian Schacter and James Madejski.

The series is currently in production in London and follows Knuckles as he teaches deputy Wade Whipple the rowdy ways of the Echidna warrior. Knuckles will take place between the events of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Sonic the Hedgehog 3, the latter of which is slated to premiere in theaters December 20, 2024.

Fowler, Whittington, and Elba executive produce alongside Neal H. Moritz and Toby Ascher of Original Film and Toru Nakahara. Paramount Pictures and Sega of America produce.

Knuckles sprints onto Paramount+ starting October 12, 2023.
