SMPTE Seminar 2005, presented in cooperation with the Entertainment Technology Center at USC and USC School of Cinema-Television, has been rescheduled for March 4-5, 2005. Originally the event was to run in December 2004, but was postponed due to the logistics of the holidays.
The event will feature a full day of case studies of recent, innovative films, the first Sony 4k digital cinema demo and a one-of-a-kind screening of OCEANS TWELVE, in which 35mm film projection will alternate with 2K digital projection. Individual seminars will explore the pioneering workflow used to make FINDING NEVERLAND, COLLATERAL, OCEANS TWELVE, SHARK TALE, DUST TO GLORY and A THOUSAND ROADS. There will also be a case study of the workflow used on a yet-to-be-announced film employing Sonys new 4K digital projector.
The seminars were designed for business, creative and technical entertainment industry members, from first-time directors and line producers to studio post-production executives.
The OCEANS TWELVE screening will launch on March 4 at 7:30 pm with a reception beginning at 6:00. Seminars on March 5 will run from 8:00 am to 5:30 pm. A continental breakfast will be served as 7:30 am.
