Apple Original Films Drops Official ‘Luck’ Trailer

The Skydance Animation CG animated film, directed by Emmy Award winner Peggy Holmes, about the unluckiest person in the world who stumbles onto the never-before-seen Land of Luck, premieres globally August 5 on Apple TV+.

Apple Original Films and Skydance Animation have just released the official trailer for their upcoming CG animated feature, Luck, which debuts globally Friday, August 5, 2022, on Apple TV+.

In the film, the unluckiest person in the world, Sam Greenfield (Eva Noblezada), who, despite her large portfolio of rotten luck, is determined to help her friend Hazel (Adelynn Spoon) find the forever home Sam never did. So, when Sam finds, and then loses, a lucky penny that leads her to an enigmatic, talking black cat named Bob (Simon Pegg), Sam chases after the feline only to wander into the never-before-seen Land of Luck, a beautiful and extraordinary place where luck is made, inhabited by all manner of magical creatures. Thus begins her quest to bring some good luck home for her best friend. But, she must team up with the magical creatures who live there to do it.

Luck is directed by Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Peggy Holmes (Secret of the WingsThe Pirate FairyThe Little Mermaid: Ariel’s Beginning) from an original screenplay by Kiel Murray (CarsCars 3), and Jon Aibel and Glenn Berger (Kung Fu Panda 2Trolls). John Lasseter, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and David Eisenmann are producing for Skydance Animation.

In addition to Noblezada, Spoon, and Pegg, the film’s all-star voice cast includes Jane Fonda; Whoopi Goldberg; Flula Borg; Lil Rel Howery; Colin O’Donoghue; and John Ratzenberger.

In discussing Luck, Holmes recently shared with AWN that it was the family aspect – or Sam’s lack thereof – that drew her to the film. “I come from a very big family,” she notes. “Family is the most important thing in my life. So, I could already feel and see this potential of having this wonderful, emotional story of a girl, the unluckiest girl in the world, a girl with no family, ultimately finding her forever family. That is really the heart of the story.”
