Silvergate Media’s Peter Rabbit Hops Into Germany

Silvergate Media partners with Super RTL to bring the Peter Rabbit brand across German-speaking territories.

Independent entertainment company Silvergate Media has signed a deal with Super RTL for the broadcast and merchandising rights for its perennially popular property Peter Rabbit brand across German-speaking territories including Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, and Alto Aldige.

Co-produced with Penguin UK and Nickelodeon US, the brand new Peter Rabbit animated television series consists of 50 x 11’ and three half-hour specials. The series launched to great ratings in the top time slot on SuperRTL’s Toggolino in November 2013 and has had similar success following launches in the US, UK, France and Australia.

The licensing and merchandising deal agreed between Silvergate Media and Super RTL includes both incarnations of Beatrix Potter’s beloved rabbit, Classic Peter Rabbit and Peter Rabbit TV – based on the new CGI animated TV programme. Activity planned for the brand includes promotions, live entertainment, music, magazine publishing and home entertainment with the television launch providing synergy between on air and off air activity.

Ron Allen, SVP Consumer Products EMEA at Silvergate Media says, “Super RTL is a fantastic strategic partner for us. They have been an excellent representative for our other property, Octonauts, for a number of years and we look forward to expanding our relationship and the opportunities that this deal creates for the Peter Rabbit brand.”

Carsten Göttel, Program Director at Super RTL says, “We are very happy to expand our partnership with Silvergate with another extraordinary series after our first and successful cooperation on Octonauts. This beautiful TV adaptation of a truly classic property has found its audience from the very beginning and is very popular with both kids and parents on our channel. We are looking forward to exploring the numerous opportunities this strong brand offers.”
