‘Shōgun,’ ‘Blue Eye Samurai’ Lead Creative Arts Emmy Winners

Two shows set in early 1600s Japan, FX’s 10-episode historical drama based on James Clavell’s 1975 novel, and Netflix’s animated drama about a mixed-race sword master living a life in disguise and shame while seeking vengeance, led the pack at the awards ceremonies held over two days this weekend at the Peacock Theater in LA.

This past Saturday and Sunday evenings at the Peacock Theaters at L.A. LIVE, the Television Academy presented both its 2024 Creative Arts Emmy Awards ceremonies honoring outstanding artistic and technical achievement in television. The ceremonies awarded a wide range of artists and craftspeople responsible for some of the best comedy, drama, limited series and television movies of the past year. The ceremonies were not televised live; an edited show will air Sept. 14 on FXX.

Among the animation and VFX-driven show nominees, Shōgun, FX’s historical drama series based on James Clavell’s 1975 novel, was the big winner, taking home 14 awards in the 25 categories it was nominated.
