Sharkslayer Rescheduled Now, Renamed Later

To avoid a direct conflict with Disney/Pixars THE INCREDIBLES on November 5, 2004, DreamWorks has moved up the release of its underwater mob comedy, SHARKSLAYER, to Oct. 1. DreamWorks had originally staked out the Nov. 5 date, until Disney/Pixar laid claim to it as well in a teaser trailer for the Brad Bird film that accompanied FINDING NEMO.

DreamWorks decided on the beginning of October because November is a very crowded field for family fare. Warner Bros. highly anticipated POLAR EXPRESS, which reteams Tom Hanks and Robert Zemeckis, bows on Nov. 19, as does Paramounts SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS feature.

At the same time, the studio said that the computer-animated riff on THE SOPRANOS and THE GODFATHER films would carry a new title, to be announced in a couple of weeks, deeming slayer inappropriate for a satirical comedy.
