Shanks FX Creates Stop-Mo Version of the New Millennium Falcon

Latest episode of web series produced by PBS Digital recreates the Millennium Falcon scene from the trailer for ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens.’

Because it had to happen sooner or later, here is a stop-motion recreation of the Millennium Falcon scene from the trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens:

Created by Joey Shanks and produced by PBS Digital Studios, this stop-motion extravaganza is the latest episode of web series Shanks FX, which covers the creation of blockbuster effects using simple household items.

“The new trailer to The Force Awakens inspired me to wrangle up all my Star Wars spaceships and have a little fun animating them,” Shanks writes on his YouTube channel. “The Millennium Falcon we used is from the X-Wing Miniatures Game. The ships are really great for stop-motion because they are light weight and also have an incredibly [sic] amount of detail on them. The large Tie Fighter seen in the video I purchased at a thrift shop for $3!”
