Sci-Fi Short ‘ON/OFF’ to Screen at Festshort Berlin

Short film written and directed by Thierry Lorenzi features VFX from ‘Deadpool’ and ‘Pacific Rim’ effects house Rodeo FX.

MONTREAL, QC -- Black Box Production announced the selection of the short film ON/OFF, directed by Thierry Lorenzi, for Festshort Berlin (May 23 – 29). The short will be screened in the one of the most iconic movie theaters of Germany: The Kino Babylon. ON/OFF has already taken part in a hundred festivals worldwide and has earned 16 awards (including 8 awards in the category "Best Film"). ON/OFF was also broadcast on biggest French public national television channel (France 2). Many critics have praised the incredible visual "tour de force" and its reflection on transhumanism.

Directed and written by Thierry Lorenzi with Carole Brana (A L'Aventure, Red Nights) and Arben Bajraktaraj, known for playing the Azkaban Death Eater in the last three episodes of Harry Potter, the story follows an astronaut, Meredith who has only one mysterious voice message to keep him connected to his humanity. The visual effects company based in Montreal, Rodeo FX (Deadpool, In the Heart of the Sea, Pacific Rim, Lucy...) is responsible for making credible the visual sensation of weightlessness. In the end, no less than 150 people were needed to complete this mesmerizing odyssey.
