Dimension Films has inked a deal with SAW II helmer Darren Lynn Bousman to direct a remake of David Cronenberg's 1981 cult classic SCANNERS, reports VARIETY. BLADE and BATMAN BEGINS writer David Goyer is writing the screenplay.
The original film had a scientist infiltrating a renegade group of telepathics called scanners, who are using their abilities as deadly weapons.
Dimension co-chairman Bob Weinstein is overseeing the project and production is set to begin in early 2008.
