Anime star Satoshi Kon has died of pancreatic cancer, reports AFP.

Anime star Satoshi Kon has died of pancreatic cancer, reports AFP. He was 46 years old.

Kon directed the films PERFECT BLUE, MILLENNIUM ACTRESS, TOKYO GODFATHERS and PAPRIKA, which showed at the Venice Film Festival and won the audience prize at the 2007 Brussels Anime Festival.

At the time of his death, he was working on DREAM MACHINE, a robot adventure film for children.

He was born in Hokkaido. Kon went on to attend the Musashino Art University, where he launched his career as a manga artist in 1985.
