Sander Schwartz Leaving WB Animation

Sander Schwartz is stepping down as the president of Warner Bros. Animation. He plans to move into a production deal with the studio working on broadband and new media animation. Warner is looking for his replacement.

"Sander's a great executive and really understands the animation business. I thank him for his six years at the helm of Warner Bros. Animation and am very happy that he'll continue to be part of the family through his production deal with the studio," said Bruce Rosenblum, president, Warner Bros. Television Group. "He led the division through a transitional, tough period in the TV animation business with great success and has positioned us for continued growth. I'm excited for him as he starts this new chapter in his professional life and look forward to working with him in this new capacity."

"I've always enjoyed the creative side of every job I've ever held at least as much as the business side," said Schwartz. "This just feels like the right time to try my hand at a full-time creative post. The animation business is evolving in so many exciting ways, from formats to production technologies to new media outlets, and I can't wait to focus my energies on producing content for all of the emerging media and platforms and will be announcing my first project in the very near future. While I'll miss seeing my colleagues and friends at Warner Bros. Animation on a daily basis, I look forward to working with many of them on a wide variety of new projects touching on all aspects of animation. I am very proud of all the shows we've been able to produce during my tenure at Warner Bros. Animation and extremely proud of the wonderful team I leave in place here."

During his six-year tenure, Schwartz developed project for the Kids' WB! and direct-to-video, as well as working with Warner Bros. Pictures on feature films based on Looney Tunes, Hanna-Barbera and DC Comics properties.

Prior to Warner, Schwartz developed animation and kids programming at Columbia TriStar and Sony Pictures. As president, he launched the Sony Pictures Family Ent. division.
