San Diego Comic-Con to Screen Animated Short With Jonathan Katz

July 10, 2010 - DEATH ROW DIET, starring Jonathan Katz and Tom Leopold, will be screened at the San Diego Comic Con on Thursday, July 22.

Jonathan Katz is best-known for Comedy Central's "Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist" and other animated works. Tom Leopold has been a writer for shows including "Seinfeld," "Cheers," and "Will and Grace".

In the cartoon, Jonathan Katz plays a man who is on death row and Weight Watchers. The short is being screened at a number of film festivals across the country this year.

Along with winning an Emmy for "Dr. Katz", Jonathan Katz has also appeared in films such as “The Independent,” “Daddy Day Care,” “Things Change,” and “State and Main.” He’s appeared on TV in “Ink,” “The Larry Sanders Show,” and “Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher.” And he’s written the book “To Do Lists of the Dead.” All this while also coping with Multiple Sclerosis.

Regarding DEATH ROW DIET, Katz said, "watching it is really interesting because... my voice has been drawn as an animated character in many different ways and this is my favorite in recent years... I’m kind of a fat blond guy. I’ve never been a blond. I’ve  never been fat. And I’ve never been behind bars."

The animated short was directed by Mike Salva and Tom Snyder.
