SAG actors have voted down a tentative agreement with videogame publishers, reports VARIETY. On Saturday, the AFTRA board approved a similar deal and has given their members till Nov. 12th to vote.
Scott Witlin, a representative of the game firms, told VARIETY that he doubts game producers will want to come back to the bargaining table as SAG members have asked their board to do.
SAG's board sent the deal to the Chicago, Hollywood, New York and San Francisco caucuses for approval, but they rejected the contract 73-42. Hollywood members view certain provisions in the new contract as steps backward. Some would allow game producers to have actors perform up to 20 voices and 300 words for the daily base rate. Witlin argues that the provision changes allow actors to get more work.
Currently, 75% of videogame voice work is done non-union.
