Rushes Soho Shorts Festival Closes

Rushes announces it will be discontinuing its annual Rushes Soho Shorts Festival.

LONDON -- Rushes has announced it will be discontinuing its annual Rushes Soho Shorts Festival. The 14-year-old festival, created by Joce Capper and her team at Rushes will go into retirement as Rushes focuses on continuing to grow its business within the VFX and post sectors.

“We loved the Festival and it has been an integral part of all our calendars for many years. It's a very tough decision to not run next year but we feel it is time for us to move forward with other creatively innovative ways to engage with our clients.” Says Joce Capper MD Rushes. “Rushes remains committed to bringing the best creative talent and services to our clients so it is important for us to direct our energies towards supporting them and ensuring Rushes remains a leading creative house in Soho and the international community.”

The Soho Shorts Festival has grown to be a significant International Film festival, showcasing talent through networking, seminars, guest screenings and competition categories. To keep it running at the level it deserves required more resources, people, time and money than we are able to commit. Rushes don't want any half measures for the Festival and we’re not willing to let standards drop for the sake of continuing a lesser event.

Soho Shorts has been an amazing experience; we are proud of its achievements, the team who have run it and all those who participated. Its success is due to them and to ourFestival Director, Joe Bateman, who has been wonderful; histireless passion, energy and commitment are very much appreciated. He is fantastic to work with and always such a positive spirit to be around. At some point we would love to bring back a reshaped festival to support this extraordinary talented global community. Until then, we would like to personally thank everyone who has contributed to the festival over the years, to the entrants from over 60 countries who introduced us to a world of short film story telling that made us laugh cry and provoked our thoughts many times over.

The Rushes Soho Shorts community has always embodied more than the ten day event each year. Their social media sites will remain and continue to promote news from the short film world and the festival community.
