The Rookies Announce 2016 Finalists

Nearly 2,000 entries were received for this year’s edition of The Rookies, formerly known as the CG Student Awards, with close to 500 academic facilities encouraging their students to submit work.

SYDNEY -- The Rookies, formerly known as the CG Student Awards, received nearly 2,000 entries this year by students from more than 70 countries worldwide. Close to 500 academic facilities encouraged their students to submit work and will compete for the hotly contested School of the Year title, while students will battle for Rookie of the Year, Game of the Year, and Film of the Year titles.

From the thousands of global entries submitted to The Rookies, only seven percent were selected to the Draft. The Draft represent the very best entries selected by the official Judging Panel which include 50 of the most influential and respected experts of their respective creative and technical fields.

The Draft nominees have been selected by scoring each entry based on criteria including creative skills, technical skills, presentation, variety of skills, raw talent, and employment potential. As always, the results have been extremely close with only a few points difference between the majority of nominees.

Winners will be recognized and announced online Monday, July 11, 2016 at www.therookies.co.

“This year’s Draft truly reflect the creativity and cleverness of young creative artists,” said The Rookies co-founder Andrew McDonald. “As we continue to grow and expand into additional fields, The Rookies will continue to celebrate the raw talent, innovative ideas, and passion showcased by the next generation of emerging talent.”
