Ritzy Animation’s ‘Obki’ Coming to Sky Kids and Now TV

The Sky Original TV series about a little orange alien here to save the planet helps kids learn about climate change, inspiring them to become the next generation of eco-warriors.

Sky Kids has announced Obki, a brand-new Sky Original TV series created by Ritzy Animation. The CG animated series features the original character Obki, a lovable alien, on his journey to be a positive force for good on Earth. The show is available now on Sky Kids and Now TV on demand for customers across the UK and ROI.

Ritzy Animation was tapped by Sky Kids to create the series, about nature and the environment, with a clear message: to give children the education and know-how to begin making a difference. The little orange alien was created to inspire the next generation of eco-warriors.

Producing the 15 x 2-minute episodes during the pandemic proved challenging for the studio. Big changes were made to the company’s operations, including how creatives worked and communicated. Production took 9 months, marking a true achievement for the young studio.

Airing ahead of COP26, the UN Climate Change Conference later this year, the show explores issues surrounding climate change in an informative and entertaining way targeting kids ages 5-9.

In the series, Obki the alien is on a mission to save planet Earth, but he has a lot to learn first. Operating from the depths of the ocean in his high-tech base, he is guided on each mission by his futuristic sidekick, the Orb. Warm, helpful, and knowledgeable, the Orb uses her advanced technology to detect different environmental issues taking place on Earth and help figure out how to tackle them.

The unlikely duo zips and zaps all over the planet, from tropical jungles facing deforestation to the deepest underwater canyons filled with litter, meeting creatures both micro and mammoth. Whether it's the greedy fiber-munching plankton or an army of farting cows, Obki’s eco-adventures show how Earth’s delicate ecosystem affects all those who call the planet home.

The series is a collaboration with Sky Zero – Sky’s campaign to be net zero carbon by 2030 and commitment to encourage its customers to #GoZero, by using its content and channels to raise awareness of the climate crisis and inspire viewers with actions they can take to protect the planet.
