The ‘Legally Blonde’ star is partnering with Build-A-Bear Workshop to put a modern take on the famous fairy tale, with the titular character taking on the role of powerful female protagonist.
It sounds like this film will be juuuuuust right. Reese Witherspoon’s production company, Hello Sunshine, is partnering with the make-your-own teddy bear giant Build-A-Bear Workshop to develop an animated feature adaptation of famous fairy tale “Goldilocks and the Three Bears.” How fitting! Billed as a modern take on the classic tale, with Goldilocks taking on the role of powerful female protagonist, the project marks the first feature for Hello Sunshine’s kids and animation division.
“Over the last 25 years, Build-A-Bear has created a trusted fanbase rooted in family, personal connection, and storytelling with teddy bears, making them the perfect partner for this project,” said Claire Curley, Hello Sunshine’s head of kids and animation, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “We’re excited to collaborate with them to bring a new perspective to such a timeless tale that we know will inspire young audiences.”
Build-A-Bear Workshop president-CEO Sharon Price John added, “We are thrilled to partner with Hello Sunshine and Reese Witherspoon, who, through her energy, experience, and intuition, has consistently proven her ability to bring talented people together and bring out the best in them. Witherspoon and Curley will executive produce alongside Price John and Foundation Media Partners’ Patrick Hughes.
