Reel FX Launches Interactive Arm

Reel FX launches new interactive/mobile division with official ‘Free Birds’ movie app, ‘Baby Turkey Trouble.’

Reel FX announced the launch of its new digital/interactive division with the release of its first app, Baby Turkey Trouble The app coincides with the release of Free Birds, the studio’s first animated film. In this hilarious, adventurous buddy comedy for audiences of all ages, two turkeys from opposite sides of the tracks must put aside their differences and team up to travel back in time to change the course of history – and get turkey off the holiday menu for good.

Veteran interactive executive Dan Ferguson has been tapped to head the division within Reel FX whose goal is to release apps for both future Reel FX films (The Book of Life, Beasts of Burden) and for clients. Multiple apps are already in development for release in early 2014.

Free Birds is a great experience for the whole family, so we created a game that anyone, young or old, can pick up and play,” notes Ferguson. “As a studio, we know how important it is to connect with our audience wherever they are. Gaming is a fantastic way for us to create new stories and deepen the bonds with our characters.”
