Ratatouille, Simpsons, Bee Movie Garner Golden Globe Nods

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced the nominees for the 2008 Golden Globes this morning. In the Best Animated Feature category, the three nominees include BEE MOVIE, RATATOUILLE and THE SIMPSONS MOVIE. Fellow animated Oscar contender PERSEPOLIS was nominated in the Best Foreign Language category along with several films ineligible for the Best Foreign Language Oscar including Ang Lee's LUST, CAUTION, THE DIVING BELL AND THE BUTTERFLY and THE KITE RUNNER.

Most of the Best Motion Picture Drama nominees feature visual effects including AMERICAN GANGSTER, ATONEMENT, EASTERN PROMISES, MICHAEL CLAYTON, NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN and THERE WILL BE BLOOD. The seventh nominee was THE GREAT DEBATERS. The same can be said for Best Motion Picture Comedy or Musical with nominations going to ACROSS THE UNIVERSE, CHARLIE WILSON'S WAR and SWEENEY TODD. Those films are joined by HAIRSPRAY and JUNO.

In other animated related news, Amy Adams was nominated for her performance in Walt Disney's ENCHANTED, while Alan Menken's "Thatâs How You Know" from ENCHANTED has garnered a Best Original Song nomination.

Visual effects work was only lightly represented on the TV side this year with THE TUDORS receiving an nomination for Best Television Series Drama and PUSHING DAISIES taking a Best Television Series Comedy nomination.
