Groundbreaking director Ralph Bakshi (Fritz the Cat, American Pop) returns with new animation, new characters and new stories in Last Days of Coney Island.

Billed as an animated cop/mafia/horror movie set in the 1960s in New York’s Coney Island, Bakshi’s latest project kicks off with a crowd funding campaign on Kickstarter beginning February 1.

“Max” and “Molly” animation character designs by new Bakshi Productions animator Colleen Cox.

Last Days of Coney Island is a series of shorts set against the strange backdrop of Coney Island and all its weird characters: crooked cops, broken hearts, jaded strippers, and singers. It takes place on and around Coney's garish, freaky midways and dark alleyways,” says Bakshi. “It also discusses America: Kennedy's assassination, the mafia, Bobby Dylan, Vietnam, Dick Tracey, Miss America. It's as real as it is crazy and funny.”
