Puppetworks Blows it Up Good in ‘Destroy All Humans! 2 - Reprobed’ Trailer

The studio collaborates with THQ Nordic on a comically destructive CG animated piece to promote the new game, a parody of Cold War-era alien invasion films; featuring the musical backdrop of Rammstein’s ‘Amerika,’ Crypto wreaks havoc on San Francisco, Tokyo, London, Russia and the Moon.

Budapest-based Puppetworks Animation Studio teamed up with THQ Nordic to make a 3D CGI animated trailer for their new game Destroy All Humans! 2 - Reprobed. Destroy All Humans! is an open world action-adventure video game franchise designed as a parody of Cold War-era alien invasion films. In the new game, years have passed since Crypto - who was sent to earth by his superiors to gather DNA locked inside human brain stems to save his race from cloning themselves to extinction - defeated Majestic and took over the American government.

The Puppetworks team, which also produced the trailer for the first Destroy All Humans! game, was understandably excited to have another go at the new one. First off, they developed the script, spending time to match effects with gameplay, which was a key element in the trailer. One production challenge was the variety of environments need to bring them together cohesively. The team also sought to find a balance between the music and the gags so as to not lose the impact of either.

Destruction abounds as Crypto collaborates with Americans in the psychedelic 60s to take revenge on the KGB for blowing up his mothership. With copious mayhem and havoc wreaked on San Francisco, Tokyo, London, Russia and the Moon, the new trailer is packed full of action, gags, and a heap of Easter Eggs! Crypto’s got a soundtrack - Rammstein's “Amerika” - which fit perfectly.

Check out the trailer – it’s an awesome example of the power of music and CG imagery – we think they nailed it!
