Puppetoons Preservation Project Launches Crowdfunding Campaign

‘The Puppetoon Movie’ Volume 2 to include 25+ digitally restored stop-motion shorts by the Academy Award-winning George Pal.

Here’s a worthy cause for fans of classic animation: Sci-Fi Station has launched a new crowdfunding campaign for The Puppetoon Movie Volume 2. This historic collector’s edition comprises at least 25 digitally restored Puppetoons in 2K High Definition color corrected from 35mm nitrate IB Technicolor prints.

Academy Award winning genius George Pal created a series of stop-motion animated shorts in the 1930s and 1940s, which he labeled Puppetoons. Brilliant even by today’s standards, many consider these some of the greatest stop-motion animation works ever created. The Puppetoon Movie Volume 2, coming from distributor B2MP, Inc. and producer Arnold Leibovit, follows the acclaimed The Puppetoon Movie Volume 1 compilation released on Blu-ray and DVD in 2015.

Over the past decade, Leibovit has discovered some 25 more Puppetoons made by Pal, many of which have never been seen or released before now. Head over to the campaign page to learn more about this important preservation project, including rewards for campaign backers.
