Project Submissions Open: Animation Production Days 2023

A joint venture of the Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Film and FMX, ADP runs April 25-28; deadline for submission of projects in film, TV series, mobile content, games, cross- and transmedia is February 9.

The 17th Animation Production Days (APD), a co-production and financing market for animation projects in German-speaking countries, is now accepting project submissions. ADP will take place in Stuttgart from April 26-28, running concurrently with the Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Film (ITFS), which runs April 25-30, and the FMX - Film & Media Exchange, running onsite April 25-27, and online April 28, 2023.

APD is a curated business platform for the European animation industry and attracts around 160 participants each year. Animation producers from more than 20 countries can present their newly developed projects to potential financing partners and co-producers in a series of pre-planned one-to-one meetings. In addition, the program includes a conference on industry challenges and trends and several networking events.

Projects can be submitted in the concept or development stages in film, TV series, mobile content, games, cross- and transmedia – specifically original projects suitable for and open to European or international co-productions with the potential for brand development and international distribution. In addition, projects integrating topics such as diversity and ecological sustainability in content, development, and realization will receive special consideration. A maximum of 50, chiefly European projects, will be selected for presentation at APD 2023.

The submission deadline is February 9, 2023. Producers who submit their project by January 20, 2023, receive a reduction in accreditation fees with the Early Bird rate. Information about project submission, selection, and accreditation is now available on the APD website

APD Talent Programme

Young producer/creator teams (maximum of two people) can submit applications for the APD Talent Programme. A maximum of eight next-generation projects will be selected for presentation at ADP. The program brings newcomers together with established experts in the industry and facilitates their first steps in the international market. The selected talents will receive free accreditation for APD and accommodation costs. Information on how to apply is available here.

One of the 2023 talent projects will again be from the European talent initiative "Animation Sans Frontières." The APD is once again teaming up with the training program supported by the EU's Creative Europe Programme, which is organized by the Animation Institute of the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg, The Animation Workshop - VIA (Denmark), Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design (Hungary), and GOBELINS, l'école de l'image (France).
