Producers Guild Announces 2019 Nominations

‘Black Panther’ to vie for top producer award; ‘Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch,’ ‘Incredibles 2,’ ‘Isle of Dogs,’ ‘Ralph Breaks the Internet’ and ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’ to contend in animated feature category.

The Producers Guild has just released their movie and TV nominations for the 30th Annual Producers Guild Awards, which will be held January 19, 2019 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles.

Marvel’s hit action-adventure Black Panther is the lone big-ticket VFX-driven film in the list of 10 movies nominated for the Darryl F. Zanuck Award for outstanding producer of theatrical motion pictures. Last year’s list included three: Dunkirk, Wonder Woman and eventual winner The Shape of Water produced by Guillermo del Toro and J. Miles Dale.

In an incredibly competitive year, five critically acclaimed features have been nominated in the outstanding animated movie category: Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch, Incredibles 2, Isle of Dogs, Ralph Breaks the Internet and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Last year, Darla K. Anderson took the award for Coco.

In addition, two animated and one VFX-driven series were selected in the outstanding children’s program category: PJ Masks, Teen Titans Go! and A Series of Unfortunate Events. Last year, Sesame Street bested animated series nominees Doc McStuffins and SpongeBob SquarePants as well as School of Rock and Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards 2017.

Marvel president Kevin Feige will be honored with the 2019 David O. Selznick Achievement Award recognizing his body of motion picture work. Previous recipients include David Heyman, Stanley Kramer, Billy Wilder, Clint Eastwood, Jerry Bruckheimer, Brian Grazer, Laura Ziskin, Kathleen Kennedy & Frank Marshall, Scott Rudin and Steven Spielberg.
