Some brand-new mystery supes are headed to our screens in 2024 - the Emmy-nominated series follows a group of superheroes who exploit their tremendous influence and popularity.
The world is on the brink. Prime Video has released a teaser trailer for the upcoming Season 4 of The Boys, featuring Starlight, Homelander, and some brand-new mystery supes. The Emmy-nominated series returns in 2024 and will stream in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.
The Boys takes a fun, irreverent, and often grizzly look at what happens when superheroes abuse their powers rather than use them for good. In the new season, Victoria Neuman is closer than ever to the Oval Office and under the muscly thumb of Homelander, who is consolidating his power. Butcher, with only months to live, has lost Becca’s son as well as his job as The Boys’ leader. The rest of the team are fed up with his lies. With the stakes higher than ever, they have to find a way to work together and save the world before it’s too late.
Season 4 stars Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, Colby Minifie, Claudia Doumit, and Cameron Crovetti, as well as newcomers Susan Heyward, Valorie Curry, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
The series is based on the New York Times best-selling comic by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, who serve as executive producers. Eric Kripke developed the franchise and serves as showrunner and executive producer. Seth Rogen; Evan Goldberg; James Weaver; Neal H. Moritz; Pavun Shetty; Phil Sgriccia; Craig Rosenberg; Ken F. Levin; Jason Netter; Paul Grellong; David Reed; Meredith Glynn; and Michaela Starr also serve as executive producers.
The show's first live-action spinoff, Gen V, launched this past September on Prime Video. That show expands the universe to Godolkin University, the prestigious superhero-only college where students train to be the next generation of heroes. When the group of young supes discover that something bigger and sinister is going on at school, they're put to the test: will they be the heroes or the villains? Another spin-off set in Mexico City may also be in the works, but details are still firmly under wraps.
The Boys is produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Sony Pictures Television, with Kripke Enterprises, Original Film, and Point Grey Pictures.
Some of the studios handling VFX production on Season 4 include Ingenuity Studios, MR.X, Soho VFX, Spin VFX, and Trend VFX.
